SS Rajamouli’s RRR approaches 1300 crore landmark, Japan box office shines. 15 lakh viewers, a mere 17 crores short. Epic’s global success persists.

In October of the previous year, RRR was released, and it continues to maintain a presence in the Japanese box office. Despite a slower pace, the film’s viewership is still steadily increasing, with an audience of over 1.5 million people. The epic creation of SS Rajamouli, RRR, remains an ongoing attraction in Japanese theaters. The movie is on the brink of achieving a remarkable milestone, nearing 1300 crores in global box office earnings. Its current rank places it at third position among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, solidifying its prominent status.

Fronted by Jr NTR and Ram Charan, the grand-scale spectacle received an overwhelmingly positive reception from both audience word-of-mouth and critical reviews. This resounding acclaim significantly boosted its earnings, propelling it beyond the 1000 crore mark within India alone. Upon its release in Japan on October 21, 2022, RRR instantly shattered previous records set by Indian films in the country, securing an unassailable top position.

According to a report by Track Tollywood, the film has attracted an audience of over 1.5 million in Japan, achieved during its impressive 305-day run in theaters. These viewership numbers, combined with an astonishing collection of approximately 143 crores (once converted to Indian currency), have contributed to a staggering worldwide box office sum of 1282.30 crores in gross earnings.

While RRR is anticipated to achieve a full year of theatrical screening in Japan, reaching the 1300 crores gross milestone solely through a single country seems unlikely. There have been persistent discussions surrounding the movie’s release in China, and if that prospect materializes, comfortably crossing the mentioned milestone could become a reality.

Presently, RRR occupies the third spot in the global ranking of highest-grossing Indian films, trailing behind Dangal (with a gross of 1970 crores) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (with a gross of 1800 crores).
